Can You Picture It Now????

Here is our house as of this afternoon.... We have framed walls and OSB around the whole house. Next come the floor joists for the bonus room. Denton, Buckley, Andy, and Scott (our neighbor) have been working pretty hard to get this enclosed before any more weather moves in. Hopefully we're clear for the next week or so. Sarah steals the carpentry pencils and runs off, but I found her hide out today and brought a few back.

Andy, Denton, and Buckley completed almost all the walls. We're supposed to have clear weather for a while. Andy spent a lot of the day sweeping and hauling off snow from the pad. On the left is our house on Sunday morning, on the right is our house Tuesday.

And then there were walls...

So...in between storms, Andy and Denton, Buckley, and Jeremy got most of the walls up. There is one more garage wall and the interior walls, but here's what the outside looks like. Today it's got snow and icicles hanging from the window frames. I'm so excited!

Of course, now there's weather...

Calvin and Andy had a large crew on Friday to pour our slab. Saturday they poured the garage. Sunday Andy sawcut 8 x 8 squares into the concrete for joints, etc. We tucked it in for a few days to protect it from weather (see the blankies?). Once that was finished, the wood was delivered for the rough framing. We've got it covered with plastic right now. We're supposed to have storms through Wednesday...

Then there was a slab...

WE HAVE CONCRETE! Could I be more excited? Only when I have framing...and a roof...and cabinets... Okay, so I'm having a great time documenting this, but Andy's doing all the hard work. He and Calvin had a great crew today to pour the concrete. Enjoy!

Waiting for weather...

We had a snap of cold, wet weather. The waiting was almost driving us crazy! The weather finally cleared up, although it was really cold for a couple of days. Andy and Calvin had everything prepped and ready for a good time to pour. They wanted to get a morning time so that it could set all day. They were so prepared they had time to do some extra work around town!

Early in the month...

Mom and Dad came on the 1st. Dad and Andy dealt with septic, inspections, and compacting the slab. Here are some shots... Andy's first setback was a septic/plumbing issue. We had to have an inspector come back out a second time. But we're all on track now!
